In December, 2010, Ms. Laryn Wicks informed us that Pennsylvania Court Appointed Special Advocates was selected as the recipient of the 2nd annual Stank Family Christmas charitable donation. The family made a generous donation. Their Holiday tradition was started in 2009 where family members contribute to a fund that's ultimately intended for donation to a nonprofit organization in lieu of their family Christmas gift exchange. A very meaningful component of their family tradition is that the decision for the annual recipient is made by Ms. Wicks' 85 year old mother Peggy. In 2010, she selected PA CASA immediately! She made her decision just after she'd read an article in the local paper about CASA's services. The article sparked a memory of hers from several years back, when she was interested in pursuing the training to volunteer as an advocate herself, but at the time was the primary caregiver for both her ailing husband and aging mother. She was concerned she wouldn't have been able to fully dedicate herself to the role due to the intensity of her caregiver responsibilities, which in turn she felt wouldn't have been fair to the children she'd be assigned. The 2010 donation was Peggy's way of ensuring she is extending help to them in another way.
PA CASA is so grateful to Peggy and the entire Stank family!
